Sustainability

Sustainability

Sustainability is a critical issue that affects everyone, and we believe that it is our responsibility to take action to protect the planet. We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and promoting sustainable practices in everything we do.

One of the ways we do this is by working with partner factories that use sustainable raw materials. By choosing products from Home Santo, you can help protect the forests, as the materials used to produce our furniture come from responsibly managed FSC-certified forests. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global non-profit organisation that works to promote environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable use of the world's forests.

We believe that adopting environmentally friendly practices and using sustainable materials can be a unique selling point for furniture brands, particularly as more consumers become environmentally conscious. By working with an FSC-certified factory, we demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable production practices. This is an essential consideration for both consumers and the industry.

We also recognize that sustainability is an ongoing process, and we constantly strive to improve our practices and reduce our environmental impact. By choosing Home Santo, you can be confident that you are making a responsible and sustainable choice for your home furnishings. Together, we can make a difference and build a better future for our planet.

Buying sustainable products should not be a luxury that only few can afford. The majority must have the opportunity to buy sustainable furniture. So at Home Santo, we work every day together with our factories to make furniture affordable for as many people as possible.

MATERIALS

We together with our factories prioritize buying raw materials with a high proportion of recycled material for the types of material where it makes sense, e.g. wood-based raw materials and components. At the same time, we strive to minimize the content of harmful substances in the raw materials, both for the sake of our end users, but also to increase the usability of the materials when the furniture is disposed of.

After use, our furniture can be disassembled, and if the infrastructure where the end user lives allow it, the wood materials can be used again for new chipboards. Alternatively, it can be used in heat production at local heating plants. We have an increasing focus on this part of the life cycle of our furniture and we are trying to ensure the best and most climate-friendly disposal or recycling after use.

WHAT IS FSC?

FSC is an international organization that sets standards for responsible forest management and certification. It works to promote sustainable forestry practices, protect biodiversity, and support the rights of workers and local communities. By choosing FSC-certified products, consumers can be confident that they are supporting sustainable forest management and helping to protect the environment.

ENVIRONMENTALLY APPROPRIATE?

FSC certification is an important recognition for furniture manufacturers who are committed to responsible forestry practices and sustainable production. By choosing to work with an FSC-certified factory, Home Santo is helping to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management practices.

SOCIALLY BENEFICIAL?

Socially beneficial forest management helps to ensure that local people and society as a whole benefit from the sustainable use of forest resources. By providing incentives for local people to sustain the forest resources and adhere to long-term management plans, the FSC helps to promote sustainable forest management practices that benefit both people and the environment.

ECONOMICALLY VIABLE?

Economically viable forest management means that forest operations are structured and managed to be sufficiently profitable, without generating financial profit at the expense of the forest resource, the ecosystem, or affected communities. The tension between the need to generate adequate financial returns and the principles of responsible forest operations can be reduced through efforts to market the full range of forest products and services for their best value.
